The Board of Public Utilities Releases Water Quality Report

CHEYENNE, WY – Access to reliable, safe drinking water is essential to a community’s health, vitality and economy. According to the City of Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities’ (Board) 2019 Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), also known as a water quality report, Cheyenne’s drinking water continues to be safe and water quality meets or exceeds federal and local drinking water standards. Or, in other words, Cheyenne’s drinking water is better than the drinking water standards established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The CCR is a federally mandated report with information about where Cheyenne’s water comes from and how the treated water compares to the federal rules regarding drinking water quality. Annually the Board publishes the report, with the results of water quality analyses conducted in accordance with the Safe Drinking Water Act. Instead of mailing a copy of the report, the Board published the report online at www.cheyennecity.org/ccr. Customers who want to receive a printed copy of the report should call customer service at 307.637.6460.

What makes Cheyenne’s drinking water safe? Our drinking water is safe because multiple agencies and Board employees work together to protect it and make it safe. Cheyenne’s water sources are protected by the EPA, U.S. Forest Service, Wyoming State Engineer’s Office, Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, Wyoming State Parks, Laramie County Conservation District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Board. The Board’s water treatment plant operators monitor Cheyenne’s water system and treatment process 24 hours a day, every day while the Board’s Water Department crews monitor and monitor and protect water quality as the water is delivered to homes and businesses. Every day, water connects us all.
