The City of Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities (BOPU) anticipates construction activities to continue and shift east, starting today, October 1, 2026, on a water main replacement project including a closure of the westbound lane of E 19^th St. from Rayor Ave. through to the Converse Ave. roundabout.

E. 19^th St. from Rayor Ave. to Albany Ave. will reopen following pavement resurfacing.

Construction on this project, and road closures are expected for approximately six (6) more weeks.

The BOPU will work diligently to keep homes and businesses accessible, however vehicles should not be parked in the Right-of-Way within the work zone between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and Saturdays on occasion. This area will be clearly marked.   Direct access to driveways may not be possible for short periods of time during construction.  In these cases, the BOPU asks residents to park safely in areas away from the work zone. 

Water shut offs will be coordinated, but unfortunately unplanned emergency shut offs may occur.

This project will advance water service reliability for the area and is part of the BOPU’s initiative to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life. Work will be completed by Aztec Construction Company. The BOPU thanks residents for their patience as we upgrade the water system. 

Starting Wednesday, September 30, 2026, the BOPU will be closing E. 7th St. between Monroe Ave. and Baldwin Dr. to replace a sewer manhole. Construction and associated closure is expected to take approximately 10 days.

The BOPU appreciates residents patience while we work to improve the sewer system.

Starting Tuesday (9/29) the BOPU will be closing W. 9th St. between Central Ave. & Capitol Ave. for repair work on a broken valve. Business Access will be accommodated during this closure. Construction, and road closure is expected for approximately 5 days.

Beginning September 28, 2026, Dillon Ave. will be closed between Pershing Blvd. and Randall Ave. to repair a broken curbstop. Repairs and associated closure is expected for approximately 3 days.

Beginning September 28, 2026,W. 27th St. will be closed between Thomes Ave. and Pioneer Ave.to replace a broken fire hydrant. Repairs and Road closure are expected for approximately 5 day.

Starting Thursday, September 24, 2026, the BOPU will close Sunrise Rd. between Windmill Rd. and Rosebud Rd. to repair a broken sewer lateral.

Construction and road closure is expected for approximately 7 days.

BOPU expects construction activities to begin next week on a new water main installation project on Dell Range Blvd. Work will initially begin the week of March 9, 2026, on the Airport Golf Course, and will then continue east on Dell Range Blvd. to Prairie Ave., using horizontal directional drilling to install a new 8-inch water main line. This installation method should drastically reduce surface disturbances, however, intersections and water service reconnections to all homes and businesses will require open excavations for connection. This work will be coordinated directly with homeowners and business owners as construction progresses.

Water shut offs will be coordinated, but unfortunately unplanned emergency shut offs may occur.

The north lane of Dell Range Blvd. will be closed for the duration of construction.

Pipe installation within Dell Range Boulevard is expected to be completed prior to Cheyenne Frontier Days, with the full project completion expected in late September 2026. While minimizing disruption to daily commutes is the goal, some minor inconveniences are inevitable. We ask for residents’ patience, respect and safety for the workers on site.
